Description
Kimal belongs to the Domeyko mountain range and is located 70 km west of San Pedro de Atacama on a road that is constantly being deteriorated by the winter rains, so it is essential to have a guide that knows the place very well.
Itinerary
The ascent to the mountain begins at 3,600mts by a uncomfortable walk through the quarry for about 40 minutes until you connect with another path that facilitates the trekking to the top.
For this kind of terrain, the ascent takes about 3 hours from the base to the top, by a path of about 3 kilometers. The descent takes about 1 hour and a half. It is a perfect mountain to acclimatization if you want to climb above 5,000 meters later.
