Description

It´s a extinct volcano located at 60 kilometers southeast of San Pedro de Atacama, It´s knowned in the region as one of the most accessible mountains to climb, has a privileged view of the volcanoes Licancabur and Juriques, Laguna Blanca in Bolivia and the Llano of Chajnantor where is situated the famous observatory Alma.

The departure starts on San Pedro about 8am from the hotel to an old súlfur source located at the base, (9am), near the 5.200m. The climbing is realized by the south face of the mountain, through a path of little more than 1 kilometer and half. The walk starts around 9:30am and approximately at 11am gets to the top of Toco.
